Culture Days, a nation-wide celebration of arts and culture,  is coming to Richmond in a few weeks. On Friday Sept. 27, guests will have an opportunity to watch “Hope Beyond Homelessness,” a 30-minute play starring people with lived experience of poverty and unstable housing. Produced by the Richmond Advocacy and Support Committee, it is a story of one person’s journey through the shame and indignity of living on the streets. More info here.

On Jan. 14 of this year, the Richmond municipal government officially endorsed the ABC Plan to reduce poverty, following a presentation by Theresa Head, Richmond Advocacy & Support Committee (RASC) member. In a letter to B.C. Premier John Horgan, Mayor Malcolm Brodie states the following:
“While recognizing the challenges of implementing such an ambitious plan, strong measures are required to stem the increasing inequality manifest in our society. On March 1, join Autistics United Canada and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network in remembering people with disabilities who were victims of violent crime. The candlelight vigil begins at 5 p.m. at Woodlands Memorial Garden in New Westminster. ASL interpretation will be provided.
