The 10th anniversary of the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive will be the week of Sept. 16, starting with the delivery of boxes and or flyers to homes and business throughout Richmond and then the pick up and delivery of all food to the Richmond Food Bank on the 21st (cash donations may only be made directly to RFB).
This year people with an interest in serving in the community are invited to make this amazing work grow even bigger. Last year over 560,000 pounds was collected throughout the province and the goal for 2019 is 600,000.
The need is great as each week some 1,300 people in the city rely on RFB to supply them with the basic food to feed themselves and their families.
Opportunities to serve include:
- Assisting with preparation of the Food Drive bags for delivery day
- Taking an assigned route for delivery of bags
- Returning on Saturday, Sept. 21 for pickup of bags left at resident’s front doors
- Organizing a mini food drive at your work (boxes and flyers can be provided
- Volunteering to sit at a donation table on Saturday the 21st at a Save On Food store
