Richmond child poverty rate ranks second in B.C.

First Call child poverty chart BC federal ridings

Being at the top of the charts is usually a good thing, unless that chart is showing the child poverty rates in B.C. federal ridings. Richmond ranks third in the province at 27.6 per cent. The statistics were compiled by First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition and Campaign 2000, a national public education movement with the goal to end child poverty. In addition to this chart, another breaks down the number of individuals affected, with Richmond coming in sixth having 5,940 children living within its borders.
